I went off the grid for the weekend, you know, because things like skydiving in Moab had to be done. After rolling around in the Utah dirt for a few days, I’ve come back to see these amazing tracks.
Keys N Krates might be becoming my favorite remix artist. Not only to they have a signature sound of smooth grooves and big beats, they do their remixes live with real instruments and digital tools. They are reportedly getting going on a big tour this summer, and I’m going to make it a priority to see their craft live.
They recently dropped this remix of the already amazing “No Prayers” by Zeds Dead and Omar LinX, and it is everything you could imagine. Silky synth pads form a backbone for a beat that would make UGK proud. Essential remix.
Also, after hearing the original about 30 times on my weekend roadtrip and maybe developing a bit of an affinity for it, I was stoked to spot this fresh remix of Carly Rae Jepsen’s ridiculously catchy “Call Me Maybe” by the frenetic sounds of Coyote Kisses. It adds about 10 lbs of energy to an already bouncy song. This song is a must have for a summer party.
And if you want a remix that is a bit more wobbly, get at this Vengeance version. It starts off plain enough, but by the end it feels like you are surviving some sort of mind-bending plane crash. The juxtaposition of the infamous Scream phone call and the cheerful Carly chorus is incredible.
